Intense aromas of raspberry jam and red currants with spicy
notes of cinnamon and nutmeg; full-bodied, rich flavors with
powerful tannins and a long finish.
Winemaker
Notes
The 2006
Kenwood Reserve Zinfandel was selected from individual barrel lots
of our finest Zinfandels sourced from Sonoma County's best
appellations. Fruit from the Mazzoni Vineyard in the
Alexander Valley was blended with Zinfandel from our own Yoakim
Bridge estate in the Dry Creek Valley to make up the majority of
the blend. Then a small amount of Petite Sirah was added to
give the wine more character and backbone.
The 2006
growing season was distinguished by a light crop load and a mild,
temperate growing season allowing the vines to bring the fruit to
full ripeness at an even, steady pace. The grapes were then
picked at the peak of flavor in late September. After
fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine was aged in 60%
French and 40% American oak for 18 months.
